Craignure Village Hall’s Sustainable Future
We are thrilled to have supported Craignure Village Hall in their project to install solar panels and battery storage. The initiative is already making a tangible difference, helping to reduce the Hall’s electricity bills and carbon footprint.
Craignure Village Hall, a hub for the local community, is now able to provide a warmer and more welcoming environment throughout the winter months, without the burden of increased energy costs. This achievement is particularly important as the financial sustainability of the Hall is essential for its continued operation, and improved heating was the top priority identified by users during a recent survey.
The project was made possible through a combination of funding from various sources. In addition to the support from The Waterfall Fund, Craignure Village Hall received grants from the CARES scheme and Local Energy Scotland. A key factor in the project’s success, however, was the contribution of local volunteers and the Hall’s weekly Community Café, whose fundraising efforts provided matching funds for the project.
This project delivers three critical benefits:
Strengthening the Community – Community Cafés bring locals and visitors together in a comfortable, welcoming environment.
Reinforcing Local Fundraising – By supporting the Hall’s sustainability, this project shows volunteers the lasting impact of their fundraising efforts.
Inspiring Similar Initiatives – Craignure Village Hall’s success serves as an example for other community buildings across Mull and Iona, showcasing the possibilities of sustainable energy solutions.
We’re proud to have been part of a project that not only supports Craignure Village Hall but also strengthens the community and inspires others to pursue sustainability.
