Fuel Hardship Fund

The Fuel Fund can help by offering one-off payments of up to £250 for residents able to demonstrate that they are in fuel hardship. Fuel hardship simply means that a household spends over 10% of their net (take-home) income on winter fuel costs.

The significant rise in energy costs over the past few years has pushed even more many islanders into fuel poverty, where fuel costs exceed10% of adjusted net income and extreme fuel poverty, where fuel costs exceed 20% of adjusted net income. To help islanders offset fuel poverty and hardship, one off payments of up to £250 are available for residents able to demonstrate that they are experiencing fuel poverty.

Eligibility

• You are a permanent resident of Mull, Iona, Ulva, Gometra or Erraid – we may ask for verification of your residence
• You can demonstrate you are experiencing fuel hardship based on your winter fuel bills (heating, cooking, other electricity usage)

Information and Guidance

• Grants of up to £250 are available
• One application per household can be accepted within a 12-month period
• All applications to this fund are strictly confidential
• Applications to this fund are open year-round
• Our monthly application deadline is on the 15th. If you apply after this date then it will be included for consideration in next month’s application round
